Stick for 8 cops

Muzaffarpur: DIG (Bhagalpur range) Vikas Vaibhav on Friday put eight cops under suspension for extorting money from truck operators near Vikramshila bridge in Bhagalpur. The DIG had received complaints accompanied by a video footage against the accused. Vaibhav also ordered suspension of constable Rupesh Kumar, who had allegedly threatened the man who provided the video footage.

Teacher exam

Patna: The Bihar School Examination Board has again extended the examination of Teachers' Eligibility Test from June 29 to July 23.

Assault

Saharsa: Chhotu Mandal was assaulted after he failed to deposit Rs 3,100 as penalty imposed by the panchayat for molesting a girl from Goriyari village on Friday.

FIR on cop

Patna: An FIR was lodged against ASI Hans Kumar for duping people by impersonating as DSP in the vigilance investigation bureau.

Arrest

Patna: Vigilance sleuths on Friday arrested sub-inspector of police Rajendra Kumar Singh for allegedly accepting Rs 8,000 as bribe from Nitish Kumar, a resident of Baikaththpur Rajpura, for help in a case lodged with Khushrupur police station in Patna rural.

Murder

Kishanganj: A mentally challenged woman, Rehana Khatoon, killed her four-year-old niece and two-year-old nephew at Jhharbari Tappu village on Thursday evening.

Fair prep

Muzaffarpur: District magistrate Dharmendra Singh on Friday directed officials to complete preparations for Shravani Fair, the inauguration of which will take place on July 9. Sanitation, road repair, strengthening power distribution lines and arrangement for devotees need to be complete.

Road funds

Patna: BJP leader Nand Kishore Yadav on Friday accused the state government of not acknowledging the receipt of Rs 667 crore the Centre had sent for the development of roads in Bihar.

Directive

Muzaffarpur: District magistrate Dharmendra Singh on Friday directed officials concerned to work towards making the district open defecation-free.

Loot arrests

Patna: Two men were arrested in the case of Rs 19 lakh looted from an HDFC Bank ATM on Wednesday night. Rs 17.5 lakh was recovered.
