Patna, Oct. 27: Bihar State Electricity Board (BSEB) chairman P.K. Rai has spelt out the goals for officials of the board, right from junior to chief engineer level, to strengthen distribution network in Bihar for smooth power supply.
Rai, while interacting with the officials during a review meeting with engineers, said officials must take stringent measures to curb theft, ensure proper billing, replace transformers within 24 hours in urban and 72 hours in rural areas, complete goals in a specified time, hold janata darbars on a given day of a month right from junior to chief engineer level so that consumers’ feedback could be taken.
Rai, who received a dressing down from chief minister Nitish Kumar a fortnight ago for poor power supply in some parts of the state capital, has been touring various area boards to take a first-hand account of the situation from the engineers.
“Do whatever you (officials) can do to remove shortcomings...I am not going to tolerate all these things. If you fail to remove shortcomings then stern action will be taken against the erring officials,” Rai said during the review meeting.
He said the board is contemplating to set up special police station to check electricity theft.
