Nalanda police will push for speedy trial in the case against suspended RJD MLA Raj Ballabh Prasad, who is accused of raping a minor.

Nalanda superintendent of police (SP) Kumar Ashish said the police would shortly submit chargesheets against all the six arrested accused, including Raj Ballabh. "We have enough evidence to prove the charges against the accused," Ashish told The Telegraph over phone.

Once the chargesheet is submitted, the police would pray the court to conduct speedy trial in the case.

Raj Ballabh - remanded in judicial custody after his 48-hour police remand ended on Wednesday evening - has reportedly provided vital clues in the case. The SP said raids were on to nab the driver of the vehicle in which the girl was taken to the MLA's house in English Pathra village from her rented accommodation in Biharsharif on the day (February 6) the alleged rape took place. "The driver, Vishnu, is absconding after his involvement came to the fore," the SP said.

Mridula Kumari, investigating officer in the case, has been assigned the task of verifying information elicited from Raj Ballabh or his conduit Sulekha during their interrogation. Sulekha reportedly disclosed names of some influential persons she "supplied" girls to.

On Thursday, additional district and sessions judge Rashmi Shikha rejected the bail petition of Sulekha's son-in-law Sandip Suman alias Pushpanjay, arrested for sheltering Sulekha and her accomplices.
