Gaya, July 8: The three persons summoned to the kangaroo court (jan adalat) of the Maoists through posters are spending sleepless nights while the 12 shops sealed by the rebels in Amas block remained closed for the second consecutive day.

None of the owners of the 12 shops — eight at Ahuri and four at Maliyachak — in Amas Block under Sherghati sub-division in Gaya district dared to pull the shutters up for the second consecutive day today. The Maoists had sealed these shops late on Wednesday evening with a diktat not to open them.

The Maoists had delivered a message that anyone violating the diktat would face action. The sealed outlets include two ration shops, two fabric stores, two hotels, a doctor’s clinic and a betel shop.

Ahuri residents summoned to the kangaroo court through posters on Wednesday night are fretting. The rebels punished one Lakhan Lal Verma of Koiridih village under Dumaria police station by organising a jan adalat in August, 2010. Both his legs were broken after thrashing. The rebels also thrashed one Dinesh Yadav, said to be close to Speaker Uday Narayan Choudhary.
