Motihari/Patna, May 27: Union minister Ravi Shankar Prasad today criticised chief minister Nitish Kumar for his comments on Prime Minister Narendra Modi's selfies and advised him, as well as, Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal "to work for the people".
"Nitish is worried because people are not clicking selfies with him like they do with Modi. What shall we do on this? My sincere advice to him is to try to work in a manner that people become impressed and come to click selfies with him," Ravi Shankar said.
The Union communications and it minister was speaking to media after visiting a photo exhibition by Directorate of Advertising and Visual Publicity showcasing the welfare schemes launched by Centre for various sections of the society.
His sharp comments came as a reaction to Nitish who attacked Modi yesterday for his penchant for selfies and had said that "what people voted for was a selfless leadership and what they have got is a selfie leadership".
Pointing out that India has 100 crore mobile phones now and it was an age of technology, Ravi Shankar added that wherever Modi goes in India or abroad, Indians, foreigners, journalists, leaders, children and people from diverse walks of life flock to click selfies with him. "This is happening because of the dynamic leadership of our Prime Minister. He is people's Prime Minister," he said.
Replying to a question, Ravi Shankar said: "I advise Kejriwal to do some work. He keeps on fighting somebody or other."
In Motihari, speaking about the "honest image of the Union government" in the past year, he said it had also earned revenue of Rs 1.10 thousand crore from the auction spectrums. "Instead of the tradition of 2G and coal block scams in the previous government, the Modi government is widely known for honesty, authenticity and governance," he added.
The minister also spoke in length about the welfare schemes of the Narendra Modi government started within one year for the poor in the fields of banking, social security, insurance and old age pension.
Ravi Shankar said his ministry had already given nod for setting up 48 and 44 new BTS towers, respectively, for East Champaran and West Champaran districts, in order to improve the performance of BSNL network for its users in the state.
