
Patna, July 9: St Karen's Secondary School today felicitated 12 students from the science and commerce streams for performing well in the Class XII board examinations.
School director D.P. Galstaun presented medals and certificates to the students and appreciated their efforts and hard work. The school also felicitated 22 students who brought laurels in extra-curricular activities.
While addressing the students, Galstaun urged them to excel in their respective fields and stressed one has to work hard to be successful. He also underlined the importance of self-confidence, determination, maintaining a timetable, and having one's goal set in order to achieve success.
He also asked the students to be responsible citizens and contribute to the community and society. "There is no dearth of talent but the need of the hour is right motivation, proper guidance and hard work," he added.
School principal K.K. Kunjachan congratulated the students and said: "It's just the beginning. You have to reach the pinnacle of success." He also asked the present Class XII batch to learn from their seniors and make their parents and the school proud. The Class XII students performed songs and danced to welcome their seniors.
The meritorious students, Sumeet Kumar, Shashank Shreyaskar, Saurav Kumar, Hritambhara Patel, Akash Kumar, Muskan Mishra, Sonam Kumari, Mohammad Rizwan, Smriti Singh, Tanya, Jayraj and Shristi, offered their gratitude to the teachers, parents and the school management.
Sumeet (science stream) was the school topper with 95.8 per cent followed by Shashank (94 per cent). Saurav and Hritambhara jointly finished third with 93.6 per cent.
"The principal, teaching employees and my seniors helped me a lot. My teachers motivated me to study from NCERT books, which are, however, not enough to clear competitive examinations," he said.
Sonam, a medical aspirant, said: "I had a wonderful time with my friends and teachers. I have studied in this school for nearly 10 years and it's very painful to leave the campus. Whatever I have learned at the school will always remain with me."
