Gaya, March 17: A tourist from Singapore was critically injured when a school bus hit her in Bodhgaya today.

Wang Boon Fan, 52, was hit by the bus as she came out of the world heritage Mahabodhi Mahavihara after offering prayers.

The bus ran over her leg near the Bodhgaya branch of Mahabodhi Society of India, eyewitnesses said.

Some residents of the area came to her rescue and took her to Bodh Gaya primary health centre in an ambulance of Mahabodhi Society of India. Fan was later referred to Anugrah Narayan Medical College and Hospital (ANMCH).

ANMCH superintendent Sitaram Prasad told The Telegraph that the woman had suffered multiple fractures in her left leg.

Doctors attending to her said she had to be administered with two units of blood.

The residents, mostly youths, who brought her to ANMCH, said they were ready to take the woman elsewhere for better treatment and have sought permission from police for this.

“The hospital administration would get in touch with the local administration and the police as the incident involves a foreigner,” the hospital superintendent said.

No written complaint has been lodged in connection with the accident, police officials said, adding that the woman was not in a position to give a statement,

Fan had arrived in Bodhgaya to attend the Kagyu Monlam puja, which was held from March 1 to 8.
