| The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has registered an FIR against JD(U) Rajya Sabha MP Anil Kumar Sahani for allegedly filing fraudulent leave travel concession claims using forged air tickets and boarding passes, said a spokesperson of the agency in New Delhi. On Friday, teams from the agency searched the Rajya Sabha secretariat, the parliamentarian’s office in New Delhi and his Muzaffarpur residence (picture above by Lokesh Bihari shows Sahani’s brother Sunil Kumar Sahani [left] outside the house with supporters after the CBI raid). Anil Kumar Sahani was unavailable for comment. Sources said the agency had registered the case under the Prevention of Corruption Act and sections of the Indian Penal Code. It had initiated a preliminary inquiry after receiving a reference from the Central Vigilance Commission and during analysis of documents, found prima facie evidence of alleged irregularities in the filing of leave travel concession claims. Sources said more cases could be registered in connection with the scam |
