Patna, Nov. 7: Police have identified 13 buildings across the state capital, which will have their own standard operating procedure (SOP) to avert attacks by criminals, Maoists and terrorists.
The buildings that have been selected are Biscomaun Towers, state police headquarters, Maurya, Patna Medical College and Hospital, Doordarshan building, Mithapur bus stand, Buddha Smriti Park, the high court, Police Lines, Rajendra Nagar Terminal, Mahavir Sthaan, P&M Mall and Patna Junction.
At present, the international airport is the only building in the city that has its exclusive SOP.
Deputy superintendents of police (DSPs) and the station house officers (SHOs) of police stations have been asked to identify and put forward a list of important buildings in their respective jurisdictions.
“Once the list is with police, it will be scrutinised to ascertain if the buildings need SOPs. For the time being, 13 buildings have been selected and the police will prepare SOPs for them in phases,” city central superintendent of police Shivdeep Lande told The Telegraph.
Earlier, The Telegraph had reported that the police were planning to introduce SOP. In July, the police had carried out a security drill at the state secretariat and discussed possibilities and details to implement SOP on its premises.
Police sources said a committee formed by the state government had been entrusted with the task of creation and implementation of SOP.
