Bhagalpur, Jan. 21: For those who failed to follow the Purnea-based Rupam Pathak case, who killed BJP MLA Rajkishore Keshari, here is a chance to witness the entire incident on silver screen.

A few production houses in the Mumbai film industry have reportedly started penning scripts to make a film based on the incident.

For spot verification and collecting the background information for a good script, a team of Sivalaya Production, a commercial film unit from Mumbai, reached Purnea on Thursday.

According to Shyam Balakrishan, a team member and producer of Sivalaya Production, the Rupam Pathak incident has stormed the Indian film industry.

“We are planning to develop a script based on rising atrocities against women and the Purnea incident could be a good example,” he said.

He said the production house has decided to make a film on women atrocities and the film would be made keeping Rupam’s character at the centre. “We have come here to learn more about the incident and also to know the ground reality,” Balakrishan said.

He, along with the team members of the production house, yesterday visited the house of slain BJP MLA from Purnea, Rajkishore Keshari was stabbed to death by Rupam in full public view at the house of the former at Chunrpur Road on the fateful morning of January 4.

Rupam alleged sexual exploitation by Keshari and his private secretary, Bipin Rai. The team also visited Rajhansh Public School of Rupam and Purnea Central Jail besides other places in the town. The team members also spoke to Hemant Kumar, Rupam’s lawyer.

Sivalaya Production, which has been working for the past 25 years, has so far completed eight big budget films.

“Recently, cases related to atrocity against women have witnessed a spurt in Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab and other states. Rupam’s incident was the latest example,” he said.

However, when reporters raised the question whether Rupam was innocent or not, Balakrishan said: “The court has to decide that. We would project the other side of the incident where Rupam had to face a prolonged exploitation. We are examining the facts and figures so that a good script could be developed,” he said.

According to sources, filmmaker and creator of noted Bollywood films like Gangaajal and Rajneeti, Prakash Jha is also planning to make a film on Rupam’s character.

“Jha is likely to visit Purnea soon in this regard,” the source said.
