Patna, Nov. 14: The adventures of a young reporter paled in front of a rebellious rockstar in the state capital, more used to the masala products churned out from the Hindi film industry.

While director Imtiaz Ali’s fourth venture — Rockstar — starring Ranbir Kapoor and Nargis Fakhri received a satisfactory response from youths, a very select audience appreciated Hollywood icon Steven Spielberg’s The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn.

Youths who are more tuned into Ranbir’s character, as the simple Janardan or his rockstar self Jordan, were not disappointed with the movie. The movie’s anthem, Sadda Haq, had made its way into their music players in the run-up to the release.

“It is not every other week that we get to enjoy the enchanting and revitalising music by A.R. Rahman on the big screen. I just couldn’t stop myself from humming Sadda Haq on my way out of the theatre,” said Ashiana Nagar resident Riti Verma, who went to Cinepolis to watch the afternoon show of Rockstar today.

Marketing head of Cinepolis Ranjeet Sharma said: “We are running 14 shows of Rockstar daily. The collection improved by almost Rs 7 lakh in the weekend since its opening on Friday.”

He, however, added that the early response to Rockstar pales in comparison to masala action flicks like Singham, Bodyguard and Ready.

At Mona, which is screening four Rockstar shows, the film is running houseful, though.

Cinepolis is screening two shows each in Hindi and English of The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn that combines three adventures of the eternally young Belgian reporter in 3D — The Crab with the Golden Claws, The Secret of the Unicorn and Red Rackham’s Treasure. Unlike Jordan, Tintin is only raking in revenue in meagre thousands.

“The opening collection of Tintin was not very good as we received only Rs 4,523 from two Hindi shows and Rs 9,086 for two English shows on Friday. The situation improved in the next two days. The audience in Patna is slowly catching up with animation movies. Although, the audience are coming in more for the 3D experience,” said Ranjeet.
