Patna, Nov. 26: Controversial MP from Madhepura Pappu Yadav appears to be getting too big for his boots in the RJD.

The party today appealed to its workers not to associate themselves with meetings convened by Pappu — who has launched an agitation against the doctors allegedly fleecing the poor — under the banner of Yuva Shakti. “Like Jitan Ram Manjhi for the JDU, Pappu has become an unguided missile for the RJD,” said a senior RJD leader.

Taking a dig at doctors, the MP had earlier called Indian Medical Association (IMA) — the largest organisation representing the medical fraternity in Bihar — “Indian Murder Association”. He also called for dissolving the state legislative council.

The RJD today virtually disowned its MP. “We have nothing to do with the agitation launched under the banner of a different outfit. We do not recognise or support the agitation launched by the MP. We have appealed to our party workers not to participate in meetings held under the banner of any other organisation,” said the state party president, Ram Chandra Purbey, stressing that the party leadership (read Lalu Prasad) would decide on what action could be taken against the MP.

Purbey announced that the party would stage a dharna in Patna against the Narendra Modi government’s failure to bring back black money in the country. “Laluji will also participate in it,” Purbey said.

The RJD leaders are irked over the fact that Pappu had started an agitation against the doctors without informing even the party chief, Lalu. That the MP is drawing large crowds is worrying the party.

“There is huge crowds even in the Sonepur Mela,” mocked the secretary-general of the party and former minister Mudrika Singh Yadav.

Pappu has a track record of revolting against the leadership of the parties he has been in. He has joined the RJD on two previous occasions only to revolt after making uncharitable remarks against Lalu.

“If Laluji is feeling the heat now, he himself has to blame for it. Despite Pappu going against him several times, Laluji has repeatedly given him ticket,” said a former RJD MP.

Pappu has revolted against Mulayam Singh Yadav and Ram Vilas Paswan also when he was in their parties.
