The Bihar Public School and Children Welfare Association led students of AVN Public School and St Columbus School and their parents to protest at the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) regional office on Monday.

The board failed to publish the results of 176 students of Class X.

Over three dozen police personnel were deployed to watch over the protesters on the premises of the CBSE office building. The AVN students said they were called to collect their results from the CBSE office at Sheikhpura. Later, the board claimed that there were problems with the documents submitted by the respective school authorities. AVN School recently lost its affiliation with the board and was barred from taking admission in Class IX. St Columbus School has a tie-up with AVN School.

The Class X board results were declared on May 28 and many city schools would begin the Class XI session from June 22. Around 388 students appeared for the board exams of which 212 students got their results last week. Two weeks ago, the CBSE headquarters formed a two-member committee for investigations in this matter. The team was sent to Patna to scrutinise the documents submitted by the school authorities. The committee members examined those and accordingly filed the report at the New Delhi headquarters. However, the contents of the report or what decision the CBSE arrived at could not be known.

During the agitation, a CBSE official found the accelerator of his two-wheeler damaged. The blame was promptly put on the agitators protesting on the premises. Thereafter, the CBSE officials and police personnel threw out the students and members of the Bihar Public School and Children Welfare Association from thepremises.

The agitators blocked Sheikhpura road and continued their hunger protest till reports last came in.
