The 2013, 2014 and 2015 batch students of the Government Tibbi College locked the entrance gate of their college on Thursday morning and also forcibly closed the outpatient department of the hospital attached with the college.

The protesting students said their results were pending even a year after examinations were held.

Around 120 students of the three batches earlier protested in front of their college raising slogans against the college administration and the state government before locking the college’s entrance gate.

“The fate of the students of the bachelor of unani medicine and surgery course of all the three batches (2013, 2014 and 2015) hangs in the balance because the results were not declared on time. The examination of all three batches had been held in September last year but even after a year, the exam result date has not yet been published,” said Shahnawaz Khan, the students’ union secretary of Government Tibbi College.

“We held a protest in Gardanibagh on Wednesday too but it did not yield anything. Today (Thursday), after we took stern action by locking up the main entrance gate of the college and hospital, principal Dr Mohammad Ziyauddin called our representatives for a meeting. He has taken our pleas in writing and have assured us that he would put forth our demands in the advisory committee’s meeting to be held at Raj Bhavan tomorrow (Friday). We are now waiting for its outcome.”

Mashqul Ahmad, a 2014-batch student of the college, said the principal’s office had sought a month’s time to address their concerns.

“Principal sir has apprised us that owing to non-implementation of some regulation, the results of the examinations have been delayed and he has sought time up to October 31,” the student said.

“The principal has assured us that our results will be published within this deadline. We, however, want to know a fixed date for publication of the results,” he added.

When contacted, college principal Mohammad Ziyauddin pleaded helplessness, saying that results of all the colleges which were part of Bihar University, including the Government Tibbi College, had been delayed.

“The students should hold protest outside Bihar University and not the college because the result is getting delayed because of the university,” he said.

“The college has no role to play. We have informed the agitating students that their results are expected to be published by the month-end as the university authorities communicated to us,” he added.
