Residents teach teaser lesson

Patna, Jan. 15: A group of residents in the Patrakar Nagar area of the state capital today caught a youth harassing a girl, beat him up and handed him over to police.

Sources in the Patrakar Nagar police station said the residents saw Upendra Kumar, who was on a motorcycle, trying to tease a girl walking past the Holy Hospital area along with her sister.

“The youth anticipated the victim and asked her to identify the picture of another woman on his cellphone. When the girl looked at the mobile handset, she was shocked to see pornographic content,” a source said.

“On hearing her screaming for help, the residents rushed to the spot, caught the accused and handed him over to the police,” the source added.

On receiving the information, city superintendent of police Kim reached the Patrakar Nagar police station. She said: “We have arrested the youth on the basis of the victim’s information. He is charged with teasing the girl.”

The sources added that the accused, Upendra, studies at a city-based coaching institute and lives in a rented house.

Missing FIR

Mani Kumar filed an FIR with the Patrakar Nagar police station after his brother, Ranjan Kumar, went missing on January 10. A resident of Patrakar Nagar, Ranjan works at a Mahatma Gandhi Setu toll gate.
