Patna, Feb. 21: The sessions of the Assembly — where representatives of the people debate about how to make the state a better place — usually turn out to be horrors for the residents of the city.

Reason: Rallies, marches and protests choke the roads of the city and make life difficult for the residents. R Block and Harding Road take the direct hit of protest and associated troubles

Officials in the district administration told The Telegraph that those who wish to hold rallies or processions have to take permission from the district administration. Proper preparations will be made to prevent untoward incidents.

But this does not satiate the common man on the road. “It is always a major problem and we are dreading the start of the Assembly session tomorrow,” said Shailendra Kumar Rai, a resident.

He added: “People going towards Patna Junction through Harding Road will face the most problems. Most of the organisers of these rallies do not take any permission from the police. The commuters are in for trouble.”

In a bid to reassure people, Ramesh Kumar, the assistant district magistrate (law and order), said the state administration and police will be on their toes to prevent unnecessary trouble. Those planning rallies will need to apply to the sub-divisional officer (sadar). Policemen will be posted to maintain law and order.”
