Patna: Class X students of CBSE schools in the state capital heaved a sigh of relief on Tuesday after board announced that it will not conduct retest of the mathematics paper.
A thorough analysis and evaluation of the answer sheets showed no specific trend that the leak had impacted the exam outcome, tweeted Union education secretary Anil Swarup.
Many students said that they were in a dilemma because of rumours on social media that the mathematics retest would be held on April 26.
"I have a family function to attend from April 18 to April 24, and I was worried I would have to skip it because of the fake news that was circulating," said Mansi, a student of Notre Dame Academy. "Now I am totally relaxed and looking forward to enjoy the function."
She said she would join a coaching centre after April 24.
"The CBSE's changing decisions gave us nightmares and took away a lot of our time but now I want to concentrate on my career. Mathematics is a headache for me and I was totally scared of a retest," she said with a big smile.
Mansi's classmate Vidhi Smriti said now she can enjoy a two-week holiday in Delhi.
"I am going to have a blast in next two weeks. I have had too much tension in the last few days," said Vidhi.
Vidhi's father, Sanjay, was also happy.
"For students like Vidhi, who have no connection with such kind of incidents (leaks), the whole turn of events - right from canceling of the mMathematics paper to the decision of holding retest and then taking back that decision - was traumatic," he said. "As Vidhi was tense, so were we, her parents. We are hoping that no further mess would be created over this (paper leak) issue."
