Patna, April 5: With the panchayat elections round the corner, the Maoists operating in Bihar seem to have stepped up activities in Naxalite-affected districts. The elections will start on April 20.
About 50 armed guerillas visited the site of a private construction company and set on fire two JCB machines and other equipment near Kanauda under Amba police station in Aurangabad district late Monday night.
On the other hand, the Rohtas police foiled an attempt by the Naxalites to blow up a culvert in an area that falls under Nauhatta police station. A police team led by deputy superintendent of police Mohammad Ali Ansari recovered five can bombs from Govindpur village.
