Central University of South Bihar (CUSB) will issue a notice regarding appointment of key administrative and academic posts by the end of this week in a move to strengthen its manpower before shifting to its new campus at Panchanpur (Gaya) from the next academic session.

The university executive council in its meeting last week had finalised the names of the finance officer, controller of examinations, the librarian, the internal audit officer and others. The university will also appoint five faculty members for the departments of mass communication and economics.

The university has appointed Gayathri V. Patil as registrar. Other officials will be appointed by this week.

"The registrar, the controller of examinations and the finance officer are the backbone of any university . The university decided on appointments to speed up the administrative and academic work," said university vice-chancellor Harish Chandra Singh Rathore.

Sources said appointments in many posts would be made after the gap of more than nine months . The post of the finance officer has been vacant for more than three months, while that of the controller of examinations is vacant for two months.

Acting finance officer Vinod Kumar Pandey and acting controller of examination C.L. Prabhavathi had to vacate their office because they had completed their stipulated term.

Appointments will be made for the first time for posts such as the internal audit officer, the librarian, the assistant librarian, the assistant registrar and others.

The university had issued an advertisement in November last year, to fill up its 45 administrative positions.

At present, the university carries out academic and administrative works from rented accommodations in Patna and Gaya.

The university administration has asked RITES Limited - the company carrying out the construction work in Gaya -to complete the first phase of work by July-August, so that the varsity can move to its new campus.

"Construction of two academic blocks, two hostel blocks and an administrative block will be completed in the first phase," said Rathore.

The new campus at Panchanpur, around 110km south of Patna, stands on an area of 300 acres. The estimated cost of the first phase of construction is Rs 300 crore.
