Patna, Jan. 6: Bhojpuri filmstar Ravi Kissen has taken up a new role for his upcoming film Don.
For the first time in his career, Kissen has sung a song for his next Bhojpuri film, which will hit the theatres in four months.
Kissen told The Telegraph from Mumbai the experience of singing has been great and very few get the chance to sing in their own film. The film is being produced by Mehmood Khan and directed by Raj Kumar Pandey under the banner of Pen N Camera.
Speaking to Kissen regarding the song, he said: “The 4.30-minute-duration song has been shot in Malaysia. The song goes like this: Hum hain don, humse dar, kahila je hum, yu tu kar. It was a great feeling while singing the song. How many actors get a chance to sing song for their film? But I have got the opportunity. I always wanted to sing, I know I am not a good singer but my fans will hear my voice for the first time as a singer. So far they have seen me romancing and fighting on the screen, now they will find me in a new version.”
The actor added: “The song is written by S. Kumar, the music is by Gunwant Sen and the song has been choreographed by Ganesh Acharya. The audience will surely like the film and the Bhojpuri version of Don will bring good revenue for the theatre owner. I am trying to add a lot of new things to the Bhojpuri version in terms of effects, action and music and trying to give it a trance and techno feel. This film will take Bhojpuri cinema to a new level.”
Kissen added that since childhood he liked listening to Kishore Kumar and Mohammad Rafi. “After singing one song I realised how much effort a singer has to put in to make a song hit. People might think it’s an easy job. Singers are always behind the camera but I salute them, as they are the backbone of the film. Without their support, it’s not possible to pull the crowd before the release of the film.”
Director Raj Kumar Pandey said: “The song which Ravi has sung is more than just a song. It also has dialogues, which were not possible for a singer to deliver, and Kissen fitted the character and role. So I allowed him to sing the song in his own way and I am sure that this would be the USP of my film.”
Besides Kissen, Nagma, Monalisa and Parsi Hegde will be seen in the film. Don has been shot in Malaysia, Mumbai and Varanasi.
