Patna: An eight-year-old girl was raped by a youth at a house falling under the jurisdiction of Sasaram town police station in Rohtas on Saturday.

Police said the youth lured the survivor on the pretext of providing her ice cream, took her to his house and raped her around 12.30pm on Saturday. The girl was found bleeding when she returned home.

The victim's father reported the incident to the police, which arrested the 20-year-old accused identified as Naseem Sheikh. Station house officer of Sasaran town police station Ram Vilas Paswan said the child was admitted to the local sadar hospital for treatment.

The SHO said that the accused has been booked under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. He would be produced in the special POCSO court after interrogation, the SHO added.

The incident has sent shock waves among the local residents, who have demanded stern action against the offender.
