Senior superintendent of police Rajesh Kumar has ordered a probe into the attack on sub-inspector Ashok Kumar Das allegedly by women campaigning against the sale of illicit liquor in the district.

The women allegedly manhandled the officer at the office of the senior superintendent of police (SSP). They went there to submit a petition against Das and other officers allegedly hand-in-glove with illicit liquor traders.

The SSP has also ordered a probe into the nexus between the police officers and illicit liquor manufacturers. Fifteen officers are under the scanner.
