Patna, March 12: A team of BSEB and Pesu officials raided the premises of Jagdamba Ventures Private Limited in Patliputra industrial area and detected a case of electricity theft worth Rs 3.5 crore.

Pesu general manager S.K.P. Singh said the firm, which produces silico manganese, had been pilfering power since July 2010. Two employees of the firm who were present on the premises during the raid were arrested in connection with the power theft.

Singh said Pesu officials were keeping tabs on the company’s power consumption and realised that it was tampering with the electric meter between 11pm and 5am.

He said the company was using a sophisticated remote control to stop the metering unit in the night.
