Patna, Sept. 22: Several parts of eastern Patna and some areas on the western side faced power cut for about five hours today owing to the maintenance work of 33KV feeders.

Patna Electric Supply Undertaking (Pesu) has started the maintenance work of 33KV feeders in every sub-division in order to provide uninterrupted power supply during Durga Puja. It is also a part of the Pesu’s ambitious plan to provide the city residents round-the-clock power supply.

Pesu had yesterday announced that power supply would be hampered for five hours from 11am to 4pm on Thursday owing to maintenance work of eight feeders of 33KV.

The areas which faced power cut today were Gardanibagh, Anisabad, Phulwarisharif, Police Colony, Paharpur, Chitkohra Bazaar, Punjabi Colony, Harun Nagar, Ashok Rajpath, Bari Path, Govind Mitra Road, Khazanchi Road, Sabzibagh, Hathua Market, Bahadurpur Housing Colony, Gandhi Nagar, Kumhrar, TV Tower, Nayatola, Pathar Ki Masjid and Alamganj. Most of the areas fall under the eastern part of Patna.

“Pesu has undertaken the maintenance work for 33KV feeders. People were informed about the power cut through a formal advertisement and news in the papers,” a power board official said.

Power has been playing hide-and-seek with the residents this week. On Tuesday, people faced load-shedding following incessant rain that triggered fault in 33KV underground cable. On Wednesday, they were subjected to five to six hours of power cut because of maintenance work.
