Raxaul, Feb. 19: A special drive to create awareness on pulse polio was launched today in East Champaran district.
Bihar State Health Society joint director Abid Hussain was in the district to supervise the seven-day campaign started by a transit team at different entry points along the India-Nepal border under the Raxaul sub-division.
Raxaul sub-divisional magistrate Jitendra Sah and sub-divisional police officer Rajeev Ranjan inaugurated the awareness-cum-transit camp at Shankaracharya Dwar (gateway to Nepal), near customs office. They asked the members of the transit team to be extra careful at every entry point at the border, which has been identified as a “high risk zone” by the state health society.
Abid Hussain told The Telegraph that he was satisfied over the results of the ongoing pulse polio campaign across the state, especially in the districts along the border. He said the transit team members would have to be extra vigilant about administering polio vaccine among infants and children along the bordering areas of the district.
