Patna, Sept. 26: Patna police have planned special arrangements for traffic movement for nine days starting September 28 in the run-up to Dussehra to ensure that people enjoy the festivities without any hassle.

Patna traffic superintendent of police Shivdeep Lande said the festival witnesses many religious processions with tableaux for which traffic, especially that of heavy vehicles, need to be diverted or stopped in the state capital.

“Starting September 28, entry of all heavy vehicles has been banned for 10 days (till October 7) between 6pm and 5am. Heavy vehicles coming approaching the city from the eastern and southern sides will have to take the road which moves through New Bypass, Anisabad, Jagdeo Path, Saguna Mor and Ara Mor. This particular road will remain open for heavy vehicles. Similarly, vehicles coming from the western direction can take the same road and go towards the eastern and southern parts of the city,” the officer told The Telegraph.

The police have made it clear above conditions also apply on tractors and Tata 407 vehicles.

Inter-district buses of Bihar State Road Transport Corporation (BSRTC) will not move to their depot at Gandhi Maidan but will terminate at Sultan Palace at Bir Chand Patel Path. Passengers will have to go to Sultan Palace to catch buses.

During the four-day Durga Puja, which begins on October 3, the road from Kargil Chowk till Gandhi Chauraha will remain open for small vehicles between 5pm and 5am from both sides, while the route would be one-way from Gandhi Chauraha till Gai Ghat, which means that people cannot take the route to reach Gandhi Chauraha from Gai Ghat.

“The road going towards Gandhi Chauraha from Ashok Rajpath via Saidpur will remain open for light vehicles too. Roads like Gobind Mitra Road, Khazanchi Road, Dariyapur Gola Road and Thakur Bari Road will remain totally closed to traffic. Bari Path Road will be closed to all vehicles from Bakarganj till Saidpur Mor. Traffic will be allowed from Chiraiyatand bridge till the station. The road from Bhattacharya Mor till Dakbungalow Chowk will be one-way. No vehicle will be allowed to pass from Dakbungalow Chowk to Bhattacharya Mor. No traffic movement will be allowed from Dakbungalow roundabout till Kotwali. Vehicles can, however, move along Frazer Road.
