Police claimed to have busted a biker gang, including its kingpin Manish Malik, following the arrest of five people from the Patna College area on Sunday. Several motorbikes and cellphones were also seized.

The gang called Kings of Patna was involved in vehicle theft, snatching and land grabbing in and around the city. Malik, a school dropout, was on the radar of the police for the past several months.

His four arrested associates have been identified as Golu Singh, a resident of Mainpura (Patliputra), Dheeraj Kumar and Anku Tiwary (both residents of Buddha Colony), and Maheshwar Tiwary, a native of Saguna Mor near Danapur.

Patna senior superintendent of police (SSP) Manu Maharaaj said acting on information that some members had assembled near Patna College, a team from Pirbahore police station was asked to rush to the spot and initiate action.

Seeing the police, the members tried to flee but were arrested. Initially, they tried to mislead the police by revealing wrong identities but spilled the beans after being pressured by the cops.

During interrogation, Manish, also called Nawazuddin, a resident of Phulwarisharif, revealed that his gang had 10-15 members in the age group of 18-25 years. While some were students, others were school dropouts.

The gang mainly used to target women during school time. The members riding motorbikes would rob these women of their gold chains.
