Patna: District magistrate Sanjay Kumar Agarwal on Saturday expressed disappointment over the tardy pace at which work is being done on the scheme that aims to provide clean piped drinking water to all households.

The scheme, christened Har Ghar Nal Ka Jal, is part of chief minister Nitish Kumar's Saat Nischay or Seven Resolves initiative.

At a review meeting on Saturday, Agarwal found that in Danapur, work on the project has not commenced even in a single ward. In Masaurhi, work has begun in two wards.

"It is very disappointing that work has not even commenced in a single ward of Danapur. I am not going to tolerate such things and strict action would be taken," Agarwal said.

The executive officers of 10 panchayats and nagar parishads - Fatua, Khusrupur, Maner, Naubantpur, Bakhtiyarpur, Danapur, Khagaul, Masaurhi, Mokama and Phulwarisharif - were present at the meeting.

The DM has sought an explanation from the executive officers of Danapur and Masaurhi, Shashi Bhushan Prasad and Anil Kumar, respectively.

A few months ago, the comptroller and auditor general had pointed out holes in the implementation of Nitish's Seven Resolves, citing how work has not begun even a year after the scheme was conceptualised.
