Over 50 women received tips on yoga to personality development at a health camp at Lady Stephenson Hall on Monday.
Organised by Bihar Council of Women, the camp would run for three days. Speaking on the occasion, council president Veena Gupta said: “Women are an important part of the society. To keep the society healthy, it is important to keep them healthy and fit.”
Monday’s programme was divided into three sessions — yoga, women’s health and anaemia, and talk on personality development.
Interacting with the participants, yoga instructor Kranti Aray said: “Irrespective of disease, I shall demonstrate some basics of yoga that can be easily practised at home.”
Elaborating on anaemia, Dr Rashmi said: “Anaemia goes untreated mainly because of lack of healthcare infrastructure, diagnostic facilities and doctors in remote areas. Deficiency of iron leads to anaemia. Intake of iron in food and balanced diet increase the number of red blood cells in the body. Chicken liver, spinach, pumpkin, sesame or squash seeds, canned lima beans, red kidney beans, chickpeas or split peas must be included in daily diet.”
Raman Sindhi’s personality development session was an instant hit. Giving tips on body language and diction, Sindhi said: “It is necessary to check your body language and diction even at home. If you carry yourself well, your family members will also do so.”
Council member Rita Kumar said she liked all the sessions. “They were informative,” she said after the sessions were over.
