Induction meet

College of Commerce, Patna on Wednesday organised an induction meet for the newly enrolled students at the college auditorium.

The meet began with a cordial welcome address by Srikant Singh, the convener of the event. A PowerPoint presentation titled College of Commerce at a glance was shown where the focus was on the major aspects of the curriculum and campus life.

Srikant asked the students to follow discipline so that the academic atmosphere on the campus was not disturbed.

Echoing the views of Srikant Singh, Baban Singh, the principal of the college, congratulated the new students on their decision to join the institution and asked them to maintain discipline inside and outside the college premises.

The principal briefed the students on the strict measures undertaken by the college administration to curb ragging.

Jainendra Kumar, the coordinator National Accredution and Assessment Council's steering committee, highlighted some the crucial aspects such as administration hierarchy and the relevance of add-on courses.

Short film show

Patliputra Cine Society organised a special screening of the film - Naya Pata - on Wednesday.

The short film was made through crowd funding, a method where there is no major producer and funds are generated through social media, from common people.

The 97-minute film was released last year and had been earlier screened at Cinepolis. However, the director of the film, Pawan K. Shrivastava, said every section of the society should watch it.

Around 70 people watched the short film on Wednesday and appreciated the initiative.

People from nine states have provided their services for the film, free of cost, and around 40 people working in different sectors, mainly information technology, have extended their help for generating funds for the feature film.

The film highlighted the issue of migration.

The president of the Patliputra Cine Society, Sanjay Sinha, thanked Pavan for allowing a screening of the film, free of cost, and expressed his gratitude towards the whole team.

After the screening of the film, a five-minute video of Pawan's next project - Hashiye ke Log - was also played. This film deals with the marginalised population of India.
