Poonam ahead of male MLAs on health front

The JD(U) MLA from Digha, Poonam Devi, is a fitness freak. The 40-something legislator hits the main gate of the Sanjay Gandhi Biological Park right at 5am when the zoo’s gate is opened for joggers. At times, Poonam reaches the gate before time, embarrassing the zoo officials. he Dal legislator walks faster than several of her male colleagues in the Bihar Assembly. A large number of male politicians come to the zoo in the morning for jogging. But Poonam is probably the only woman legislator who goes to the zoo for morning walk. Digha is an urban Assembly seat in Patna. Perhaps, the lifestyle of the city might have inspired her to take care of her fitness unlike her peers from the villages which are yet to catch up with the walking and ogging.

 

Study, my dear

A seventh standard student, barely 13 years old, came to the office of Patna district magistrate (DM) Sanjay Kumar Singh, complaining that his nephews beat him up. While the DM was listening to the boy, a mobile phone in his pocket started ringing. The nosy DM asked: “Who pays for your phone?” The boy said his father, an employee in the motor vehicle inspector’s office. The DM, without paying much attention to the boy’s complaint, advised him to concentrate on his studies than turning up at the janata darbar, leaving his school and classes. “Better you study, your problems will be solved,” the DM told the boy.

Cap must for namaaz

While the chief minister was heading towards the venue of the evening namaaz session, known as “Magharib ka Namaaz”, at his residence before the Iftar party last week he suddenly realised that he was not sporting a cap like other devotees. “Oh! mera topi kahan hai (Oh, where is my topi)?” he shouted. Soon, one of his aides turned up with the topi. Wearing it, Nitish muttered, “Ab theek hai, bina topi ke namaaz kya (Now it is OK. Namaaz has no meaning without sporting a cap).”

 

Shock to CM

A group of young aspirants for the posts of librarian gathered at the janata darbar of chief minister Nitish Kumar on a Monday, saying the government libraries across the state had over 22 vacancies and they should be appointed against the vacant posts. After listening to their problem, Nitish asked them to meet the human resource development minister, P.K. Shahi. In a fit of rage at the chief minister suggesting them to meet a minister instead of himself looking into their demand, an aspirant tore his application in front of Nitish much to the embarrassment of the officials and the security personnel around. A visibly perplexed Nitish said: “Isne apna application kyon phar diya (why did he tear his application)?” The securitymen, too, expressed their anger at the young man for losing his cool in front of the chief minister. But the youth shouted: “We are unemployed. There is no one to take care of us.” A man at the darbar said: “The youth’s outburst reflects the youths’ anger against unemployment.”
