Paswan to woo Dalits with allies

Patna: The Lok Janshakti Party (LJP), an ally of the BJP in the NDA, plans to woo the Dalits in the backdrop of the recent protests.

LJP chief and Union minister of consumer affairs, food and public distribution, Ram Vilas Paswan will bring together all the constituents of the NDA on a single platform to woo the community.

The party and its Dalit Sena have decided to hold a mega show of strength on Ambedkar Jayanti (April 14) at Bapu Sabhaghar of Samrat Ashoka Convention Centre in which chief minister Nitish Kumar, deputy chief minister Sushil Kumar Modi, RLSP leader and junior HRD minister Upendra Kushwaha will take part.

Apart from senior leaders of all four NDA constituents in Bihar, the LJP has invited Dalit leaders from all parties to attend the function. Paswan held a meeting with his party leaders in this connection on Sunday.

Paswan said: "Dalits leaders from BJP, JDU, RLSP and LJP such as JDU leader and minister Maheshwar Hazari, JDU leader Shyam Rajak, Ashok Choudhary, BJP MP Janak Ram and Hari Manjhi have been invited to the function."
