Gaya: Magadh University will recruit part-time teachers who will be paid Rs 1,000 per class, subject to a maximum of Rs 25,000 per month.
Confirming the proposal, vice-chancellor (VC) Prof Qamar Ahsan said he has constituted a committee under the chairmanship of pro-vice chancellor K.N. Paswan to work out the modalities for recruitment of part-time teachers in PG departments and 19 constituent colleges to tide over the acute faculty crunch.
All faculty deans have been made members of the committee. The committee, according to the VC, is mandated to frame recruitment rules in light of government guidelines on the subject. The guidelines communicated to the university vide a letter dated May 22 say that a selection committee led by the VC must appoint the part-time teachers.
Guidelines in the letter issued by education department additional secretary Manoj Kumar say part-time appointees should hold qualification as fixed by the UGC for appointment as assistant professors. As per rules, only those who have either qualified the National Eligibility Test or obtained PhD degree in accordance with academic quality rules framed in 2009 will be eligible for appointment as assistant professor.
