Parents of a number of students seeking admission to Class XI were displeased with the inaccurate information issued by St Michael’s High School on Wednesday.
Several residents who turned up at St Michael’s High School found that their wards were required to have 90 marks or above in all subjects for direct admission. Many parents alleged the school had earlier put up on its notice board that students required an aggregate of 90 per cent marks for direct admission. As there is no connection between subjects like history, civics and geography (social science) and science and commerce streams, many parents expressed displeasure with the inaccurate information.
Despite repeated attempts, St Michael’s principal Father Peter Arockiasamy could not be contacted. The CBSE-affiliated school started to issue admission forms for ICSE students on Wednesday. The process will end on Thursday.
One of the parents who went to collect the admission form said: “The school should have stuck to what it had earlier said. We have to face a lot of problems because of the lack of accurate information.”
Navin Kumar Jaiswal, who collected an admission form for his daughter from the school, said: “My daughter wants admission in the science stream, which requires a minimum of 90 marks in each subject for direct admission. Those who have got a minimum of 85 per cent in aggregate would have to sit for the written examination. I would have been happy if girls, including my daughter, would have got grace marks. My daughter has scored 93.2 per cent in aggregate and 88 per cent in science.” The admission test is on June 3.
While St Michael’s High School disappointed parents, Notre Dame Academy pleased them. It had stuck to its rules.
The CBSE-affiliated Notre Dame Academy started issuing admission forms on Wednesday. Just like St Michael’s, it will continue till Thursday.
Alok Kumar, who went to Notre Dame Academy to collect the admission form for his daughter, said: “I got the form easily as the rush was manageable. It was a good experience. The school representatives answered all my queries.” While Notre Dame Academy has ensured direct admission for its own students, those from ICSE-affiliated schools would have to take admission test on June 2.
CBSE will declare Class X results on Thursday.
Once the CBSE declares the Class X results, Notre Dame Academy and St Michael’s High School will again declare fresh dates for issue of admission forms.
St Joseph’s Convent High School, which has also started issuing admission forms, will continue the process till June 9. Adil Hussain, who collected an admission form for his daughter (who has given her ICSE from the school) on Wednesday, said: “I got the form very easily as there was not too much rush.”
