Patna, March 10: The government has asked the Nalanda district authorities to dismiss Kumari Tripty, the panchayat head of Parthu Raj village, and conduct speedy trial of a criminal case against her.

On February 26, panchayati raj department assistant director Surendra Prasad sent a letter to the Nalanda district magistrate to conduct a through probe into the charges of corruption against Tripty and initiate suitable disciplinary action. Tripty is accused of misappropriating Rs 15 lakh while implementing public welfare schemes during her 2006-2011 tenure. She was re-elected in 2011.

Nalanda district magistrate Kundan Kumar said he was not aware of any such directive. “I have assumed charge only a few days ago (on March 6),” he said.

As reported by The Telegraph on February 16 this year, the previous DM, Sanjay Kumar Agarwal, had thrice sought action against Tripty but his efforts were stonewalled.
