Bihar School Examination Board would introduce online evaluation in language subjects from the next academic session to bring in transparency in matriculation results.
The computerised evaluation of copies would also help in results being declared on time.
Board chairperson Rajmani Singh said: “In the computerised evaluation system, teachers from any part of the country will be able check the subjective part of answer sheets. Explaining the details, Singh said the scanned copies of the answer scripts would be uploaded on to the computer.
After the answer sheets are checked, the marks awarded will be automatically uploaded on the marksheet of the respective student. The students can also have a look at the answers sheets after publication of results.
The board chairperson also said that the board would approach private agencies to help them in upgrading technology for the online evaluation. Apart from this, the board is also interested in improving its own infrastructure. The board has tied up with Chandragupt Institute of Management Patna, which is providing training to employees of the Bihar board in computer literacy, office management and examination management.
The chairperson said only the subjective part of the paper will be covered under the new move while the objective part will be checked under the optical mark recognition format. Sources in board said that from the next academic session, the board would introduce an objective format for answering the paper.
From the academic year 2012-13, the board would introduce objective papers to make students acquainted with all the topics. “In various competitive examinations, objective-type questions are asked. We have come to know that students who appear in competitive examinations after Intermediate face difficulties in answering objective questions,” added Singh.
