Patna, Sept. 22: When frustrated, Facebook isn’t the safest wall to bang your head against. Two employees of Bihar Legislative Council — Arun Narayan and Musafir Baitha — learnt it the harsh way when they were handed over suspension letter for using “unconstitutional” language on the social networking site. The two officials are working as assistants in the department of Hindi publication in the Council.

Chairman of Legislative Council Tarakanth Jha refused to make a comment on the issue when contacted by The Telegraph. Jha said: “I am not going to speak a word on this matter. I am not a political leader, I am the chairman of the Council and I know the rules and law.”

Shocked over the suspension order, Arun Narayan said: “I never thought in my wildest dreams that writing on Facebook would cost me my job. I just shared my thoughts regarding termination of JD(U) MLA Prem Kumar Mani on the Facebook. I had written with a question mark that is the decision taken by the chairman of the Council influenced by the JD(U). After that I have written that if anybody will try to differ with Nitish’s democratic rule, then a sword will hang on his head.”

He further said: “It was just my view on the decision, I neither challenged the chairman nor supported Prem Ku-mar Mani. Everyone has the freedom of speech.”

The suspension letter, sent on September 16, has been handed over to both the employees without any showcause notice. Both are award-winning writers and have received many awards from the state government.

Musafir Baitha said he had shared his views on administrative red-tape on Facebook. He said his application for loan against his GPF was not cleared as his office had allegedly not updated his GPF records for seven years.

Disappointed, he wrote on Facebook: “Deepak tale andhera… Bihar Vidhan Parishad jiski mai naukuri karta huun, vahan vidhano ki dhajjiyan udai jaati hai. (Darkness beneath the lamp… Bihar Legislative Council where I work, there rules are ripped apart).”
