Patna: People are flocking Purbashree Emporium, a craft bazaar going on at the Sinha library ground on Sinha Library road from December 23 to January 2.
The fair is organised by North Eastern Handicrafts and Handlooms Development Corporation Limited in Shillong, a government of India undertaking that falls under the ministry of development of north eastern region.
"It is an endeavour to provide a window to the world of handloom and handicrafts and culture of the Northeast and a few others, like Gujarat and Assam," said deputy manager of the fair, B.K. Dey.
There are many takers for handloom and handicraft item made from bamboo, cane and basic raw materials found in states in the northeast. "We make each one with our own hands," said Rithu, a stall owner from Mizoram.
Another interesting facet at the fair is of artisans demonstrating their talent in person, as they go about working.
This was the second year the craft bazaar was held in Patna and there is a possibility this would become an annual affair. The organisers are expecting sales to touch Rs 30 lakh. They like the location because it is open and safe. "It's a good start and we expect a good crowd," said Dey.
"It's good to see talent from seven states at the same place. It is convenient and nice," said Avinash Jha, a customer.
