Patna, Jan. 5: Chief minister Nitish Kumar today curtly said there would be no alliance between his party, the JD(U), and its bitter foe, the RJD, anywhere in the country.

Before leaving for Seva Yatra, Nitish said: “The news that the JD(U) will contest the Manipur elections in alliance with the RJD is not correct. I read about it in a few newspapers. I must clear my stand that if the RJD is in the alliance, the JD(U) will never be a part of it.”

He said: “There should be no confusion on the issue that the JD(U) and the RJD will never contest any kind of election in alliance. Contesting elections with the RJD is not in the interest of the party. There is no question of having an alliance with RJD at any cost.”

Nitish said: “I have spoken to the party president, Sharad Yadav, on this issue and there is consensus that the JD(U) will not go for an alliance anywhere in the country where the RJD is present. The RJD will never be accepted in our alliance,” said Nitish.

The Telegraph in its January 5 edition had reported that the RJD’s Manipur unit had joined the five-party People’s Democratic Front (PDF), which includes the JD(U).

Although RJD secretary general Ramkripal Yadav denied his party had joined any alliance in Manipur, the Northeast state’s party president in-charge, K. Kumarjit, said: “We have joined the PDF and are very much a part of the Opposition alliance.”
