National Investigation Agency has detained a person from Bela village under the jurisdiction of Barachatti police station on Wednesday evening.
So far, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) has detained seven persons, including three from the Barachatti area in Gaya, around 50km south of the Mahabodhi temple for the serial blasts.
The identity of the person detained yesterday has been kept secret. It is learnt that the NIA sleuths have interrogated him to get some clue about the serial blasts.
The person has been detained on the basis of the sketch of a suspect that was released by the NIA on July 16. The sketch was prepared on the basis of closed-circuit television (CCTV) camera footage of the World Heritage Mahabodhi Mahavihara.
Earlier, from the Barachatti area, the NIA had detained a person, who works as a carpenter and owns a furniture repair shop at Domuhan in Bodhgaya.
The person stays at Baiju Bigha village in Bodhgaya with his family. Subsequently, a Bengali youth was also detained. However, the youth was released as he was said to be mentally challenged.
The NIA has also collected the CCTV footage of the Mahabodhi Society of India (MSI), Bodhgaya branch, located 100m northwest of the Mahavihara.
It is also learnt that the NIA officers have interrogated Bodhgaya Temple Management Committee employee, Rajendra Yadav, on whose statement an FIR was lodged with the Bodhgaya police station in connection with the serial blasts.
There is a proposal to install at least four CCTV cameras on the Mahavihara campus that will rotate 360 degrees.
Chief secretary Ashok Kumar Sinha, director-general of police Abhayanand, home secretary Amir Subhani and other officers would visit Bodhgaya tomorrow.
The officers will conduct a high-level meeting to review the existing and the proposed security arrangements at the Mahavihara and around Bodhgaya.
On the other hand, following a call by shopowners of Mahabodhi shopping complex, business establishments remained closed on Thursday.
