Varsity faces RTI plea

Patna: Failing to get a reply from the governor’s office of his letter sent on March 20 seeking removal of Magadh University vice-chancellor Arun Kumar, former member of Bihar Public Service Commission Shiva Jatan Thakur has moved a Right to Information (RTI) application. umar’s application says it was obligatory for the chancellor under Section 9(2) of the Bihar State Universities Act, 1976, “to inquire or cause inquiry to be made by any agency in his discretion on any public petition as the law presumes that wilful protection of corruption, despite substantive materials, constitutes cognisable offence for public petition of public servants under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988”.

Painting meet

Patna: Rabindra Parishad on Sunday organised a painting and rangoli competition on its premises as part of its 150th birth anniversary celebration of Rabindranath Tagore.

Patna: The State election commission on Saturday cancelled the nomination paper filed by former mayor Sanjay Kumar for alleged illegal occupation of a government flat in the Rajendra Nagar area of the capital.

Chess camp

Patna: The All Bihar Chess Association, affiliated to the All India Chess Federation, will start a six-month chess training camp in the state the next month. The programme would cover all 38 districts of the state.
