Patna: Nobel laureate Amartya Sen’s visit to the state has been cancelled, as he fell ill after arriving in Shantiniketan in Bengal on Thursday. Sen was scheduled to address a meeting and release a report prepared by the Centre for Economic Policy and Public Finance on Friday.
He was also scheduled to visit Nalanda International University at Rajgir, of which he is a mentor.
Patna: Patna High Court additional district and sessions judge VIII, Ajit Kumar Sinha, on Thursday found Pankaj Kumar (30), Jitendra Singh (38) and Tarkeshwar Manjhi (60), residents of Mokama, guilty of raping and murdering a deaf girl, Gungi Devi, on August 30. The court will pronounce the sentence on February 9. Patna: Rohtas police arrested a man from Sagar police station area on Thursday while he was extorting money from truck operators on Grand Trunk Road posing as to be the district transport officer.
