Ghalib meets Nitish

Patna: Indonesian ambassador to India Andi M Ghalib on Tuesday met chief minister Nitish Kumar on Tuesday. The meeting lasted for more than an hour.halib credited Nitish for the changes the state has undergone in the past few years.

Culture meet

Patna: Art, culture and youth minister Sukhda Pandey inaugurated a two-day culture meet on Tuesday at AN College. She said the sports ground of the college would be developed into a small stadium.

Funeral

Patna: The funeral of Sister Freda, Notre Dame Academy’s first principal, took place on Tuesday evening. She was buried at the graveyard in Notre Dame Academy. Freda died on April 3.

State bills

Patna: Rameshwar Singh, the state’s principal finance secretary, on Tuesday apprised the accountant-general of the state government’s initiative to resolve and rectify the anomalies of detailed contingency bills.

Bar election

Motihari: The election to elect the president, general secretary and general body of the district Bar Association for the next two years was concluded amidst police deployment and regular patrolling on Tuesday.

Protest

Patna: A large number of students, mainly from the sociology department of Patna University, created a ruckus on Tuesday at the main office, protesting the authorities’ decision to cancel the final-year graduation examination of sociology. The examination was cancelled on Monday as questions were out of syllabus.

Visit

Patna: Sudarshan Dash, senior programme manager, United States India Educational Foundation, visited NIT Patna to hold an information session on fellowships.

Withdrawal

Patna: RJD member of Legislative Council Rajendra Rai, who moved the high court seeking allotment of a bungalow instead of an ordinary flat, withdrew his petition on Tuesday after the council’s lawyer Kaushal Kishore Jha gave assurance before the bench that the chairman would look into the issue.
