Patna: Chief judicial magistrate’s (CJM) office in Patna on Friday received a message from the central jail (Mumbai) superintendent, stating that Pune-based stud farm owner Hassan Ali Khan has not been produced yet as he has not been given permission by the principal judge, city sessions court, Mumbai. he jail superintendent prayed to the CJM to communicate another date for production of the accused. CJM, Patna, Surendra Pratap Singh has given May 26 as the next date.

Appointment

Patna: Patna High Court on Friday quashed the appointment of principal of BN College, Raj Kishore Prasad, under Patna University holding the appointment illegal. While setting aside the principal’s appointment, a bench of Justice Ajay Kumar Tripathi said: “The appointment of the principal is quashed as it suffers from legal vice and infirmity.”

Hearing

Patna: The high court will hear the appeals of Arvind Kumar and Subhash Prasad Sinha, the vice-chancellors of Magadh University, Bodhgaya, and Veer Kunwar Singh University, Ara, on Monday. The appointments of the vice-chancellors were set aside by a single bench of the high court.

Bankers’ meet

Patna: Deputy chief minister Sushil Kumar Modi on Friday announced that the 36th state-level meeting of Bankers Committee will be held on May 18. He added that chief minister Nitish Kumar would also participate in the event.

Function

Patna: Governor Devanand Konwar and three Supreme Court judges — Justices A.K. Ganguly, C.K. Prasad and Gyansudha Mishra — and Patna High Court Chief Justice Rekha M. Doshit — would participate in the silver jubilee function of the Central Administrative Tribunal Patna bench on Saturday.

Awareness

Patna: The department of agriculture will organise a Krishi Vikas Utsav. It will send raths to all districts of the state in order to create awareness among farmers. The objective is to make them aware about the different schemes being run by the department.
