Landing scare at airport

Patna: More than 100 passengers on board Jet Airways’ Delhi-Patna flight had a scary experience on Monday while landing at the airport. fter descending almost to a height of 500m at the time of landing, the flight suddenly started gaining altitude. After a while, flight captain Manju Shree announced that owing to windy conditions she had to abort the landing. The flight went for a go around. By that time, visibility too had dropped. When visibility improved, the flight landed around 8pm, more than 30 minutes behind schedule. When contacted, Jet officials refused to comment on the incident.

Ganja haul

Patna: A huge quantity of ganja was seized by the directorate of revenue intelligence sleuths on Sunday when they intercepted a van in Madanpur block (Gaya district) between Sherghati and Aurangabad.

Strangled

Chhapra: One Vimala Devi was strangled to death on Sunday allegedly for dowry. She was married to Nagendra Sharma of Vikram Kaituka village under Maker police station in June. Vimala’s mother Kunti Devi has lodged an FIR, accusing Vimala’s in-laws and husband of murder .

Cop drive

Patna: Crime cases, including 303 warrant cases, were disposed of at a special police drive o Monday.

Reply sought

Patna: A division bench of Justice S.K. Katriar and Justice A. Amanullah of the high court on Monday asked the oil marketing companies HPCL, IOCL and the Centre to file their replies within four weeks in response to a PIL challenging the interactive voice response system and SMS for booking of LPG cylinders.

Patna: The commercial tax commissioner, Rajit Punhani, visited Darbhanga to hold a meeting with businessmen of Mithilanchal region.

Special status

Patna: The executive committee of Bihar Chamber of Commerce on Monday welcomed the Prime Minister’s decision to constitute an inter-ministerial group to look into the demand for according special category status to Bihar.
