Fake official caught

Patna, Nov. 25: The vigilance team of East Central Railway caught a fake travelling ticket examiner from the Anand Vihar-Jogbani Express when he was collecting money from the passengers. he railways have issued instruction to officials for keeping vigil on such incidents.

Campaign

Patna: Food and consumer protection minister Shyam Rajak left for Delhi on Monday to take part in the campaigning for the JD(U)’s candidates contesting the Delhi Assembly elections.

Conviction

Patna: Additional district and sessions judge Ramesh Chandra Singh on Monday held Mukesh Mahto, a resident of Chaitola under the jurisdiction of Sultanganj police station, and Upendra Thakur, a resident of Nadwa under the jurisdiction of Masaurhi police station, guilty of a triple murder and robbery. The convicts had killed Arti Gupta, Golu and Ritu on August 16, 2010. The court will pronounce the quantum of punishment on November 30.

Charges

Patna: Judicial magistrate Anil Kumar Ram on Monday framed charges against former MP Rajesh Ranjan, alias Pappu Yadav, in connection with the recovery of a mobile from his shoe during judicial custody. Inspector-general of police (jail) had conducted a sudden inspection at the Beur Central Jail on December 8, 2004.

Bribe arrest

Patna: Shiv Shankar Yadav, a junior engineer of Sherghati Nagar Parishad in Gaya district, was arrested by a vigilance bureau team on Monday on the charge of taking bribe of Rs 28,000 from a contractor, Waziuddin Akhter. Yadav had allegedly demanded bribe for completing a measurement book to facilitate payment of construction work carried out by the complainant.
