Road role change

Patna: Road construction minister Nand Kishore Yadav on Thursday changed the managing director of Bihar Rajya Pul Nirman Nigam Limited (BRPNNL) with immediate effect.

Nand Kishore appointed Umesh Kumar as the new managing director of BRPNNL replacing Ram Kumar Sinha.

Puja train

Patna: To cater to the needs of passengers during the festive season, the East Central Railway on Thursday announced to run a Puja Special train between Indore and Calcutta from September 17 to October 3.

Man shot at

Patna: Durgesh Kumar, director of Gyanam coaching in Doctors' Colony under Patrakar Nagar police station area, was injured by firearm by Kunal Sharma, a person known to him, over a dispute on Thursday evening. Durgesh Kumar, who sustained injuries in his leg, was admitted to a private hospital where his condition is said to be stable. The police denied reports of extortion being demanded.

Heat on cop

Patna: Rajiv Nagar police station house officer Mritunjay Singh has been forwarded to police lines following the clash on Tuesday when the police had gone to remove squatters. Twelve more people were arrested on Thursday for Tuesday's violence.

Ex-DM case

Patna: The high court has directed Buxar district authority to return the belongings of former district magistrate Mukesh Pandey, who committed suicide near Ghaziabad last month, to his wife Ayushi Shandilya. The directive came after the 2012-batch IAS officer's wife filed a writ petition in the high court.

Cops die

Sasaram: Two policemen, Shyam Kishore Singh, 58 and Jawahar Lal, 41, died under mysterious circumstances on duty at Karakat police station in Rohtas on Thursday. Though the police said Shyam Kishore was suffering from asthma, Jawahar died of cardiac arrest.

Patna: District magistrate Sanjay Kumar Agarwal on Thursday held a review meeting on the development work going on at the block level. Agarwal issued a strict instruction to achieve the target of uploading colour photographs of voters in the electoral list. The target was 4,11,000 in which only 1,86,000 colour photos have been uploaded.

Health camp

Patna: The health department will put up 42 camps at this year's Pitripaksh Mela to be organised in Gaya this month, health minister Mangal Pandey said on Tuesday.

Man held

Patna: Patna police have arrested Sanjay Singh, a bootlegger involved in several criminal incidents including the infamous Bipin Bihari Singh murder case, extortion, kidnapping, loot and other cases. He was arrested from Patrakar Nagar police station area.
