Human chain protest

Bhagalpur: School students would form a human chain on May 2 to protest against traffic mismanagement that led to the death of nine-year-old Addya Vaishnavi, a Class III student of Mount Assisi School, last Saturday. condolence meeting was held in the town on Sunday evening for the girl.

Meira land

Patna: Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar filed a writ petition in the high court on Monday seeking the closure of a road constructed on her land at Chandwa village in Bhojpur district without consent. The court asked principal secretaries of panchayati raj and rural works departments to submit their explanations by May 6.

Mourning

Patna: Bihar Industries Association on Monday mourned the death of its former treasurer and general secretary CM Saxena. He died in a Pune hospital on April 27.

Heat on chit funds

Patna: Police on Monday raided the office of Prayag Group of Companies, a Calcutta-based chit fund firm. At the office of the company, located in Shanti Agency building on Exhibition Road, many documents were found. The police refused to comment on any arrests or detentions.

CBSE meet

Patna: The Central Board of Secondary Education held a meeting with board co-ordinators from across the state to render guidelines on how to verify the evidence of assessments in classes IX and X in the 2012-13 session.

Café raid

Patna: Police on Monday raided a cyber café at Kulharia Complex under the jurisdiction of Pirbahore police station and found many men and women in alleged compromising positions.

Attack slur

Patna: A police constable, identified as Saroj Kamal, posted as the bodyguard of one Amit Abhishek, the owner of the Motihari-based Angel Security Agency, on Monday came down to the office of Patna senior superintendent of police Manu Maharaj alleging that he had been attacked by Abhishek and his other private security guards.

Driving class

Patna: Members of Bihar State Autorickshaw Drivers’ Association and those of Patna District Autorickshaw Drivers’ Association have decided to impart training in autorickshaw driving to “needy” girls, who would be interested in joining the profession.

Placement

Patna: Two students of Chanakya National Law University — Saurav Singh and Abhiyodya Sharma — have got job offers from Shriram General Insurance, Jaipur. The duo have been placed at an annual package of Rs 6 lakh. The insurance company on April 18 conducted interviews at the CNLU.
