Cuffs on drug peddler

Patna: Customs sleuths nabbed a professional drug peddler and seized heroin worth Rs 84.5 lakh from his possession near Raxaul in East Champaran district on Saturday.

Assistant customs commissioner Santosh Kumar said narcotics dealer Sikandar Prasad Yadav was a resident of East Champaran and was involved in illegal trade for past several years.

Topper scam

Patna: Police on Saturday submitted a supplementary chargesheet against nine other accused in the 2016 Bihar School Examination Board Intermediate topper scam. Earlier, 32 people, including former BSEB chairman Lalkeshwar Prasad and his wife, a former MLC, had been chargesheeted in the case.

Showcause

Patna: BJP state general secretary Radha Mohan Sharma on Saturday issued a showcause notice to four of its leaders for being involved in anti-party activities.

Murder 

Gaya: A group of musclemen allegedly murdered a Dalit couple, Sukhdev Ravidas (80) and Saraswati Devi (75), in Gaura village in the district on Saturday over their grandson’s alleged affair with a girl of a different caste. Five persons have been made named accused in an FIR lodged with Mufassil police station in the district. 

Jibe 

Patna: Leader of Opposition in Assembly Prem Kumar on Saturday alleged that the education system had collapsed in Bihar under the Nitish Kumar rule, while the government sits idle. 

Roadblock

Munger: A group of residents blocked NH-80 near Nawagarhi Bazaar and paralysed traffic for several hours on Saturday to protest criminals lodged in the district jail demanding extortion money from local traders.
