New entries on BIT course

Five new courses, including three undergraduate management programmes, will be launched at Birla Institute of Technology, Patna, from the academic session starting mid-July this year.

While the launch of a two-year MBA programme and another five-year integrated MBA programme from the new session had already been declared, Birla Institute of Technology (BIT), Patna, director S.L. Gupta announced the launch of the three other courses on Thursday.

The undergraduate courses are bachelor of business administration (BBA), bachelor of computer applications (BCA) and bachelor of business economics (BBE). With the start of the five courses from mid-July, the institute would have a full-fledged management department.

Gupta said: “The institute is launching three undergraduate courses as they are much in demand. The undergraduate syllabus has been designed in a way so that it is on a par with the top management institutions offering BBA, BCA and BBE courses in the country.”

The undergraduate courses will be for three years with 40 seats in each discipline.

Students interested to pursue the courses have to make online applications on the BIT Mesra website — www.bitmesra.ac.in. The BIT-Patna authorities said the website would guide the students about applying for the courses.

The admission to the three courses would be on the basis of the candidate’s Class XII marks. They would have to pass the Class XII boards with a minimum of 50 per cent with English as one of the subjects.

On the three-year BBE course, he said BIT-Patna would be the state’s first institute to start it. A study of management with economics, students are taught subjects, including statistics of business, fundamentals of business and accounting, business communications and basic micro economics, in the BBE programme.

Those pursuing the course have job prospects in banking insurance, financial services, consultancy companies among others.
